Hyundai Motor Company, Korea’s premier automaker


Now it’s time to introduce one of Korea’s noted companies. Today I bring you a story about a company that needs no further introduction, Hyundai Motor Company. Although Korean products have made their marks in global consumer markets, some preconception still exists that Korean goods are cheap and shoddy. The so-called “Korea discount” continues to downplay the quality of Korean products, making it hard for Korean companies to do businesses overseas. However, Hyundai Motor Company is trying to shatter the “Korea discount” theory by rolling out the Genesis, a high-end luxury passenger sedan. Hyundai Motor has made a name for itself by selling small cars, but can its Genesis succeed in the luxury vehicle category? Here’s Ms. Song Mi-young, assistant chief of the Overseas PR team of Hyundai Motor Company to tell us more about Hyundai’s challenge and potentials. First she tells us about the new Genesis.
