Korea aims to lead the plant species market


More than 30 thousand of the 20 million plant species on earth are threatened with extinction each year due to ecosystem destruction. Species preservation has become a serious issue, and the value of living resources is rising. Due to the small size of the Korean seed market, Korea has spent $32.5 mil. on seed royalties in the past 5 years. However, the future of the Korean seed market seems to be much brighter. Korea’s cacti make up about 70% of the entire global market and Korean-developed cancer-fighting cabbage is being exported to Japan. Let’s see how Korea’s innovative ideas and technology has begun a new era in the seed market.
