The buried treasures of the Gold Bell Tomb were excavated in 1924. Believed to be the final resting place of a 5th or 6th century prince or king of Silla, the occupant was buried with a gold crown, gold jewelry, weapons, and other necessities he would need for the afterlife.
Probably the most famous items from the tomb are a set of two earthenware figures that were used as vessels for carrying liquids or as lamp holders. The two figures are very realistic and the fine details of its craftsmanship provide valuable insight into how ancient Koreans lived and dressed.
