Have any famous animation characters been created in Korea?

Growing numbers of Korean cartoon characters are getting increased recognition and winning the hearts of young and old people around the globe. The female character, Pucca, is the only daughter of a Chinese restaurant owner who first appeared in online greeting cards and flash animations in her quest to steal a kiss from her love interest, Garu. Created by Vooz Company in 1999, today Pucca merchandise is distributed in 127 countries by Walt Disney and includes DVDs, children's books, candies, T-shirts and jeans. Pucca also has a licensing contract with Benetton.
