The country’s cultural legacy related to straw and plants was created due to a grass roots necessity. Examples of such include straw egg holders, hand-held grain winnows, workbaskets, and wicker trunks. The museum keeps straw/plant-related folk materials (3,500 items), tools (200 items), hand-made nails (2,000 items), articles used for the rite of paying homage to deceased ancestors (1,000 items), doors for hanok (traditional Korean houses) (200 sets), relics donated by Lee Jong-seok (457 items), and wooden tops (500 items of 100 different kinds).
