According to a survey conducted in the first half of 2009 by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), Seoul is the most popular destination in Korea, with 76.7 percent of visitors making a stop in the capital. Gyeonggi-do Province and Incheon were the next most visited places, with 36.2 percent of visitors saying they had stopped by. A total of 21 percent of tourists also checked off Busan and the Gyeongsangnam-do region among places they visited during their stay.
