The 2000 inter-Korean summit was a landmark meeting held from June 13 to 15 in Pyongyang, North Korea, between South Korean President Kim Dae-jung and North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. It was the first direct meeting ever held between the leaders of the two Koreas. So historic was the meeting that Kim Dae-jung was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for successfully arranging the summit.
