A night with a full moon is called boreum in Korea. Among the boreum nights, the first full moon of the lunar year is dubbed the jeongwol daeboreum (literally the January full moon), and it is regarded as more meaningful than other boreum nights. Daeboreum is the brightest night of a year, and people pray to the moon to realize their wishes.
