The Crimson Ink that Once Fueled Korean Government


Today people worry that paper is an endangered species, with everything done via computer — holiday cards, headlines, correspondence, even government documents.

But before modern times, the only way a state could reliably communicate orders and information down through the ranks was with paper. And the only way to ensure that this vital channel wasn't disrupted was with to use an official seal.
