As Korea gets ready to host a special summit with members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on June 1-2 on Korea's southern resort island of Jeju-do, the government has designated the last week of May as "ASEAN Week."
Foreign Ministry officials said that the week between May 24 and June 2 has been designated ASEAN Week to mark 20 years of the relationship between Korea and the 10-member Asian bloc and also to provide a chance for Koreans to understand the culture of Southeast Asian nations.
