Construction of the new administrative city Sejong should be complete by 2030, leaving the city the most efficient and agreeable in the country with sparce population, convenient transportation and pleasant environment, the city's planners say.
The government also plans to develop a 3,579 sq-km area surrounding Sejong into a comprehensive metropolitan area inhabited by 4 million people. The area will incorporate the present Chungcheong provincial cities of Daejeon, Gongju, Gyeryong, Cheonan and Cheongju.
