How has the Korean film industry grown thus far?


Korea's history in film goes back all the way to the late 19th century, and the country's first cinema opened in 1903. The 1920s and 1930s witnessed the release of many good silent films, but for much of the pre-Independence era, Korean directors were subject to severe censorship by the colonial Japanese authorities.
