The best-known financial district in Korea is Yeouido, a small island in central Seoul, often called "Korea's Wall Street." The area, crowded with skyscrapers and posh buildings belonging to the country's big banks and stock brokerages, is home to hundreds of local financial companies. Korea's top financial watchdog agency, the Financial Supervisory Service, is also located in the area, as is the Korea Exchange, the operator of the nation's stock markets.
