Kansong Art Museum

The Kansong Art Museum was established by a Korean art collector named Jeon Hyeong-Pil. Jeon devoted his life to preserving Korean art during the colonial period by buying a variety of Korean artworks, rare antique books, national treasures and historic relics with his fortune. He opened Korea’s first private museum, “Bohwagak,” in 1938, when he was 33 years old. He displayed his collections and later renamed Bohwagak the Kansong Art Museum.
