
The largest museum in the country is the National Museum of Korea, which opened in Yongsan District, central Seoul, in October 2005. It spans a 295,550-square-meter area, with a total floor space of 137,201 square meters, including six annex buildings. The museum features permanent and special exhibition halls, storage, offices, a children's museum, an education center, an auditorium and the Yong Theater, among other facilities. The exhibition halls are divided into archaeological, historical, donation, Asian arts and special exhibitions, in addition to the main hall. There are also two fine art galleries, as well as the Children's Museum and Path to History.
