What is the national currency of Korea?

The national currency of Korea is the won. Korean currency comes in both coin and banknote form. The most commonly encountered coin denominations are the 10 won, 50 won, 100 won and 500 won pieces. Bank notes, meanwhile, are issued in 1,000 won, 5,000 won, 10,000 won and 50,000 won denominations. The issuing of coins and banknotes is the exclusive jurisdiction of Korea's central bank, the Bank of Korea. The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO), a government-owned corporation, handles the actual minting and printing of currency.
