Young Koreans are very global and enjoy all types of music that not only Korea, but also the world has to offer. The primary type of music enjoyed in Korea is, of course, Korean pop music (a.k.a. K-pop), a general term for all mainstream music crooned by domestic and international Korean pop celebrities. The new and major K-pop groups currently enjoying the spotlight range from the boy bands Super Junior, Big Bang and 2PM to girl bands Brown Eyes, Girls' Generation and 2NE1, plus old favorites including Hyori Lee, Jong-gook Kim and MC Mong.
