One of the primary goals of the government's Sejong City development is to build it into a science and education center by building universities, graduate schools and special high schools.
So far, Korea University and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) have signed on to build campuses in the new city in Chungcheongnam-do (South Chungcheong Province) and concluded an MOU for investment with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation.
