It takes about 40 minutes by bus to travel from Gangnam bus station to The Korean Folk Village. The Korean Folk Village recreates the lifestyle of Korean ancestors. It was created to help educate people through its use of various housing features. Many foreign and Korean visitors can see things such as a mortar, which pounds grain, a cauldron used for cooking over a fire, an ondol, which is a Korean under-floor heating system, and a blacksmith. A traditional market place, into which people crowded, was set up every five days and everything from farm produce, artifacts, fishing and inland products, and grain were traded. Visiting with children offers twice the pleasure and education. Modern Korea is growing too rapidly. There are many young people who don't know about the traditional lifestyle in Korea. Surely the purpose of The Korean Folk Village will endure and educate not only Koreans, but also all people around the world.
