Old Landscape Paintings to Display Beauty of Arts in Joseon Dynasty

The National Museum of Korea is especially excited these days with its first display of landscape paintings by Jeong Seon (penname Gyeomjae), the famous artist of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).

This year commemorates the 250th anniversary of the death of the artist, and so a total of 142 paintings have been specially selected among his many works to go on display. Gyeomjae, who entered the world of art belatedly at the age of 36, never let go of his paint brush afterwards, or so it is told. And true to that, he remained productive till his death at age 82.
