South Koreans, as a general rule, are not allowed to travel to the North. There are some exceptions, however. When it is in operation, the Mt. Geumgangsan Tourism Project allows South Koreans to visit North Korea's beautiful Geumgangsan mountains. South Korean businessmen, meanwhile, operate at the Gaesong Industrial Complex, a large-scale industrial park in the North Korean city of Gaeseong. Individual South Koreans are permitted to visit the North for inter-Korean economic cooperation projects in Pyongyang and other North Korean locales as well. The Ministry of Unification is the body responsible for approving visits to the North by South Koreans.
