While the Gangnam area has Yangjaecheon, Gangbuk has Hongjecheon. This 11.1 kilometer long stream, which begins in Bukhansan (Mt.), before flowing into Hangang, is one of the most representative streams in Seoul's north-of-the-river districts. Running through four different districts, Hongjecheon used to be called "Moraenae" or "Sacheon", both of which mean "a brook with sands". These names arose because of the abundant sands within this stream.
